ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager with a strong background in Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, and Qt for UI development to lead and mentor a team of talented engineers. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who excels at managing teams, driving technical excellence, and aligning engineering efforts with business objectives through OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).
As a key leader in our machine software team, you will be responsible for guiding the team in designing, developing, and optimizing real-time and embedded software solutions for next-generation products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, product managers, and stakeholders, to deliver high-quality, scalable, and efficient embedded solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Management:
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of embedded software engineers.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Define and track OKRs to measure team and project success.
Oversee hiring, onboarding, and career development of engineers.



Embedded Software & UI Development:
Guide the design and development of Embedded Linux and FreeRTOS-based applications.
Oversee board bring-up, BSP development, and driver integration.
Ensure efficient real-time system performance and low-power optimizations.
Develop and optimize Qt-based graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for embedded systems.
Improve UI performance and responsiveness in resource-constrained environments.



Project & Technical Execution:
Own the software development lifecycle, from planning to deployment.
Help define architecture and best practices for scalable embedded software.
Lead Agile development processes, code reviews, and CI/CD integration.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps.



Basic Electronics & Debugging:
Read schematics, analyze circuits, and assist in hardware-software debugging.
Work closely with the hardware team on PCB bring-up and system validation.



QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams.



Technical Skills:
Strong experience with Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, Yocto, and Buildroot.
Proficiency in C, C++, Python, and shell scripting.
Experience with Qt framework for UI development and optimization.
Expertise in UI performance tuning and resource-efficient graphical rendering.
Experience with ARM Cortex-M/A architectures, BSPs, and device drivers.
Knowledge of I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet, MQTT, and BLE.
Familiarity with basic electronics, including reading schematics and debugging circuits.



Leadership & Project Management:
Proven ability to hire, mentor, and develop engineers.
Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum), Jira, and Confluence.
Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to define and execute OKRs for team and project success.



Nice-to-Have Skills:
Experience with OTA firmware updates and secure boot.
Knowledge of DevOps for embedded software (CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, etc.).
Experience with low-power embedded systems and battery-operated devices.



WORK ENVIRONMENT
You’ll be working from our office in Jönköping, with the flexibility to work remotely part of the time. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

The Patent Engineer will primarily focus on the development and maintenance of a patent portfolio for innovations originating from SVPs’ development activities. The role includes management of a patent portfolio relating to mechanical, electrical and software engineering, with specific technology in sewing and embroidery machines.
The successful candidate will be expected to independently manage an active caseload, strategically direct outside counsel, and skillfully advise internal business colleagues. The Patent Engineer will work closely with a diverse and talented group of engineers to: identify, strategically file, and guide prosecution of patentable inventions, search and analyze competitive patents in key technology areas, provide technical analysis and freedom to operate opinions, aid in company-wide patent education initiatives, and help guide the development of new products.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintain a strong knowledge of SVP product lines, technologies, and industry technology applicable to project assignments
Integrate with assigned product and project teams
Monitor and assess competitive patents relevant to SVP products
Counsel engineers and other technical personnel regarding patentability, patent procedure, portfolio strategy and related issues and conduct training
Conduct patent clearance reviews and identify patents that need further study or formal opinions from outside counsel
Lead product patent mining sessions and prepare materials for outside counsel to be used in patent applications
Creation and implementation of strategy and procedures for patent management
Solicit, review, and manage approval process for invention disclosures
Confidently communicate to the project team patent updates throughout the development process
Independently and effectively manage and oversee outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the U.S. and abroad while working within a budget
Knowledge and interest in patent-related issues associated with commercial agreements and licensing arrangements



SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, strongly preferred in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science (unrelated degree acceptable with equivalent professional experience)
Patent attorney/agent license or certification preferred
5+ years of experience
Experience managing a portfolio of patents and additional time sensitive projects in a fast-paced organization
Proficient understanding of patent filing and prosecution inside and outside of the United States
Assertive self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and superior time-management skills
Demonstrated ability to provide practical and strategic legal advice to senior business leaders

Preferred:
Experience in an industry which manufactures and/or sells a commercial product
Industry experience as an engineer, programmer or related role

ABOUT THE POSITION:
As a system engineer you will become the “glue” between Product Management, the different functions within R&D and the rest of the organization. You will support our projects with technical as well as system engineering lead. Your job is to maange technical investigations and together wit the team define and document the requirements that will beimplemened in our products. You will have a strong base in the user perspective and work closely together with our sewing and crafting experts to understand what functions that gives true user benefits. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Today we think that you have longer experience working as a system engineer or system architect in the area between embedded software and electronics. Experience of connectivity and digital solutions/apps is also an advantage since your focus will be on our ecosystem of products and digital solutions.
· At least 5 years of experience in system engineering
· Experience of IoT/connected devices
