The doctoral student will work on the research project “Manufactured products’ information provision for light environments” (MAP4Light). MAP4Ligh is a research project founded by the Knowledge foundation and industrial partners involved in the project. Most of the research will be carried out at the department of Construction Engineering and Lighting Science, School of Engineering, but short periods in the partners companies might occur.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Appropriate information exchange between all parties involved in the construction and maintenance process is crucial for the correct application and integration of complex systems like luminaires and windows in a building. (Digital) information provision and exchange are among the issues that affect all parties involved in each stage of the building process, causing increased costs and time, and reducing the final product quality and sustainability. This research project will contribute to a more efficient information flow focusing on information exchange and advanced digital tools to achieve this goal. The project aims to investigate when, in the construction process, product information needs to be exchanged and who is the relevant information supplier (process modelling); what information is needed and how the information should be structured, standardized and delivered into a digitalized process (information modelling) and how, with the semantic web (SW) technologies and linked data (LD) technologies, to implement advanced digital solutions for information provision/exchange.
